MAGA Republicans Downplay January 6th in New Resolution
On February 6th, 2024, Rep. Matt Gaetz and Rep. Elise Stefanik introduced a resolution in Congress pushing the extreme stance that former President Trump did not incite an insurrection on January 6th, 2021. The bill downplays the events of January 6th, perpetuates the Big Lie, and defends those who incited violence and stormed the Capitol.
Text of The Big Lie Resolution:
“Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that former President Donald J. Trump did not engage in insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or give aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.
Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that former President Donald J. Trump did not ‘engage in insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or give aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.’”

The insurrection was a direct attack on our democracy - and it’s just the beginning. Urge every Member of Congress to oppose Rep. Matt Gaetz’s resolution declaring that former President Trump “did not engage in insurrection.”
