MAGAs Fault If We Default – Lobby Day

On May 25th, Courage for America brought together key members of House Democratic leadership, content creators, and constituents from key districts to demand answers from the MAGA House for threatening a catastrophic default. We called on Congress to prevent slashes to critical health care, veterans’ benefits, law enforcement, and education funding. The all-day event consisted of a lobbying training session for constituents, Congressional office drop-ins, a press conference, and meetings with Congressional staff and members of Congress.

Constituents and advocates meet with staff of Rep. Brandon Williams (R-NY) in the U.S. Capitol.

The marquee event, a press conference at the Capitol, included speakers such as Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA), Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA), DPCC Chair Joe Neguse (D-CO), Appropriations Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA), and Mayor Santos Garcia (Madera, CA). The event also featured passionate veterans as well as constituents of the Republican members of Congress who took us to the brink of economic collapse.

Rep. Neguse (D-CO), joined by constituents and advocates, speaks about the MAGA Default Crisis in front of the U.S. Capitol.

This event served as part of Courage for America’s campaign to hold Speaker McCarthy and the MAGA House accountable for voting on outrageous cuts to critical benefits and threatening a national default.
