Courage for America Demands McCarthy, GOP House Leadership Not Reinstate Marjorie Taylor Greene On Committees Following Pro-Insurrectionist Statements
VIDEO: Rep. Greene: “I want to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, we would’ve been armed.”
Zac Petkanas: “It’s outrageous that Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise would even contemplate giving her more power to decide important questions for the American people by returning her committee assignments.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Saturday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made violent, pro-insurrectionist comments at a New York Young Republican Club gala on what would have happened if she had organized the January 6th insurrection. During the gala, Greene reportedly stated: “I want to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, we would’ve been armed.”

In response, Courage for America is calling for McCarthy to hold Marjorie Taylor Greene accountable by, at the very least, ensuring she is not reinstated on any committees or given any House leadership positions. Courage for America joins a chorus of voices condemning her statements and demanding action, including the White House, which responded earlier today.
““It’s hard to tell which is more concerning: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s public endorsement of political violence or the fact that she’s still being embraced by Republican leadership in the House of Representatives,” said Zac Petkanas senior advisor to the House Accountability War Room. “It’s outrageous that Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise would even contemplate giving her more power by returning her committee assignments. Someone advocating for an armed and violent coup shouldn’t be given a platform to help enact the extreme MAGA policies rejected by the American people. We call on the Republican leadership to immediately commit to keeping Rep. Greene off of any committees to prevent her from doing more harm.”

CBS: White House: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s latest Jan. 6 comments a “slap in the face” to law enforcement, victims’ families
-
White House spokesman Andrew Bates stated: “It goes against our fundamental values as a country for a Member of Congress to wish that the carnage of January 6th had been even worse, and to boast that she would have succeeded in an armed insurrection against the United States government. This violent rhetoric is a slap in the face to the Capitol Police, the DC Metropolitan Police, the National Guard, and the families who lost loved ones as a result of the attack on the Capitol. All leaders have a responsibility to condemn these dangerous, abhorrent remarks and stand up for our Constitution and the rule of law.”

“We want to cross the Rubicon. We want total war. We must be prepared to do battle in every arena. In the media. In the courtroom. At the ballot box. And in the streets,” NYYRC president Gavin Wax declared to a room full of supporters at 583 Park Ave., an event venue on New York’s Upper East side. “This is the only language the left understands. The language of pure and unadulterated power,” Wax added.
