ICYMI: MAGA Members Exposed For Calling For Martial Law, Attending J6 Rallies, Encouraging Violence But House GOP Announces They’ll Investigate…Jan. 6th Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This morning, a new batch of messages obtained by the January 6th committee revealed that Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C) sent texts during the insurrection to urge Donald Trump to invoke martial law (or, as he referred to it, “marshall law”) to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

This news comes after Marjorie Taylor Greene was exposed yesterday for making violent, pro-insurrectionist comments at a New York Young Republican Club gala, claiming that the January 6th insurrectionists would have “won” and “been armed” if she had organized the attempted coup.

“Everyday we see more and more proof that the GOP House conference has been overtaken by power-hungry anti-American MAGA extremists,” said Zac Petkanas, senior advisor to the House Accountability War Room. “Representatives like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ralph Norman and many incoming members have been exposed as extremists. But instead of holding them accountable, the House Republican leadership is choosing to elevate them and investigate the bipartisan January 6th committee for doing their job to safeguard the republic. This is like a MAGA Alice in Wonderland where everyone who should be investigated gets a promotion, and everyone who is honoring their oaths has to lawyer up.”

Rep. Ralph Norman

Rep. Ralph Norman wanted Trump to invoke “Marshall Law” so that Trump could stay in office.
On January 17, 2021, “just three days before President Biden was scheduled to take office,” Norman texted Trump’s chief of staff, “Mark, in seeing what’s happening so quickly, and reading about the Dominion law suits attempting to stop any meaningful investigation we are at a point of “no return”in saving our Republic !! Our LAST HOPE is invoking Marshall Law!! PLEASE URGE TO PRESIDENT TO DO SO!!”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green

A few days ago, Greene made violent, pro-insurrectionist comments on what would have happened if she had organized the January 6th insurrection. Greene said, “If Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, we would’ve been armed.”
Greene is an election denier and a major proponent of the Big Lie. On January 5th, 2021, Greene told Newsmax that January 6th would be “our 1776 moment.” After the January 6th Insurrection, Greene told a YouTuber “I am one of those people” who would have been at the January 6th riots, adding, “that’s exactly who I am.”

Incoming Freshman GOP Attending J6 Rallies

Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) breached police barricades at the US Capitol on January 6 during the riots.
George Santos (NY-03) attended the January 6th rally in DC, calling it a “front-row spectacle” of an “amazing” event and compared the actions of the January 6th rioters to “breaking into your own house and being charged for trespassing.” Santos even allegedly wrote a “nice check to a law firm” to help get January 6th rioters out of prison.
Mike Collins (GA-10) attended a “Justice for J6” rally where he called the January 6th insurrectionists “political prisoners” who are being “held for nonviolent crimes” to “suppress law-abiding citizens from expressing their first amendment rights.”

House GOP Going After Jan 6 Committee

House Republicans are promising to investigate the January 6th investigation, including discrediting the “panel’s work and punish its workers.”
Rolling Stone: “Donald Trump spoke to House Republican allies earlier this year about potential plans for tearing through the Jan. 6 committee’s undisclosed records and communications, aiming to uncover dirt or unflattering details.”
