ICYMI: Trump Commits to Pardoning January 6th Insurrectionists in First “9 Minutes” as President

“No one is above the law.”

WASHINGTON, D.C — Today, Courage for America, and Officer Harry Dunn and Sgt. Aquilino Gonell – who defended the Capitol on January 6th – released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s latest commitment to pardoning insurrectionists within the first “9 minutes” of his presidency:

“Donald Trump, MAGA extremists, and the insurrectionists who attacked the United States Capitol are not patriots, warriors, or victims – they are a disgrace to this country. Trump is doubling down on minimizing the atrocities of the insurrection by granting these convicted criminals pardons for crimes committed under his banner, further proving that MAGA extremists think that the rule of law does not apply to them and are determined to avoid accountability for their crimes. No one is above the law. As officers who faced the horrors of what happened almost four years ago, we are not surprised by this commitment from Trump. It’s a betrayal to those who risked their lives defending the Capitol and a disgrace to those who died as a result of the violence we endured. The officers who responded that day deserve justice for their sacrifice and bravery. The American people will not forget this abuse of power.”
