Meet Guy Reschenthaler, New GOP Chief Deputy Whip

Reschenthaler’s record includes extreme MAGA policy positions and election denial

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As incoming GOP Whip Tom Emmer announced earlier today, Guy Reschenthaler has been appointed chief deputy whip for the 118th Congress.

Reschenthaler has an extensive record of MAGA extremism — from denying the results of the 2020 election to leading the charge on deeply unpopular cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

Relevant aspects of Reschenthaler’s record in Congress include:

  • Rep. Guy Reschenthaler is a MAGA extremist who voted to overturn the 2020 election.
  • Reschenthaler is part of the steering committee of the committee proposing huge cuts to Social Security and Medicare in 2023.
  • Reschenthaler supports a national abortion ban, even co-sponsoring a 15-week national abortion ban that could punish doctors for up to five years in prison if they violated the law.
  • Reschenthaler voted to keep MAGA extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s committee assignments.
  • Reschenthaler co-hosted a radio show and did fundraisers with a disgraced Trump official who resigned after it was revealed that he made anti-gay, anti-Muslim, racist, and sexist remarks. Reschenthaler even wrote the foreword for his co-hosts book.
  • Reschenthaler voted against the right to contraception, including birth control and condoms.
  • Reschenthaler voted against both impeachments of Donald Trump.
  • Reschenthaler supported the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, putting millions of Americans at risk of losing their health insurance.
