TODAY: Courage for America Bus Tour Holds Kick-Off Press Conference in Bakersfield Demanding Speaker McCarthy Promise To “Back Off Our Benefits”
Advocates Ramp Up Pressure on MAGA Republicans Ahead of Potential Default Crisis and McCarthy’s 100th Day
BAKERSFIELD, CA — Today (3/30) at 2 PM PT, House accountability campaign Courage for America will kick off its nationwide “Back Off Our Benefits” bus tour in CA-20 to call on Speaker McCarthy to promise his constituents that he will not cut essential programs that Americans rely on — including Social Security, Medicare, and veterans benefits.
The tour kickoff will include a press event in Yokuts Park, directly behind Speaker McCarthy’s district office. Speakers at the event will include Courage for America spokesperson and Health Care Voter executive director Laura Packard, representatives from the California Alliance for Retired Americans, and local community members and advocates, who are joining Courage for America to call out MAGA lawmakers’ political games for pushing the country towards a default crisis at the expense of American seniors, veterans, and children.
NOTE: Speaker McCarthy’s constituents invited him to attend the event and make this promise to his constituents, but they did not hear back from his office.
