Trump’s Chaotic Funding Cuts Continue to Harm the American People

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Trump and Republicans in Congress have continued to sow chaos and confusion in their push to cut federal funding for programs that benefit working families, actively harming the very communities they purport to serve. Though the White House rescinded the original order to cut this spending, Trump’s own press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, immediately contradicted that, claiming on X that the president’s executive order would still be enforced. Her statement only added to the confusion and outrage — while people across the country suffer the consequences.

“Through a toxic combination of incompetence and callous indifference, President Trump and his lackeys are throwing the American people under the bus to help their billionaire friends,” said Courage for America spokesperson, Danny Turkel. “This unconstitutional power grab by President Trump threatens to upend the child care, public safety, and nutrition assistance upon which millions of Americans rely. We must continue to build public momentum against these draconian cuts to essential services.”

Despite the mounting public backlash against these cuts, numerous House Republicans have voiced their support, including Speaker Mike Johnson who stated that he “fully” supports this unconstitutional order from President Trump. It’s just another instance of Republicans in Congress prioritizing their loyalty to Trump over their loyalty to the Constitution and their own constituents.
