Trump’s Project 2025 Cuts Federal Grant Money, Harming Everyday Americans
WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump demanded all federal grant and loan programs stop being funded at 5 p.m. Tuesday. While the Constitution gives the “power of the purse” to Congress, President Trump is ignoring that and overriding them to effectively shut down government spending — ripping things away from working families who depend on them. While Americans struggle to pay the bills, the administration is going to raise costs and throw people into chaos and uncertainty — enacting dangerous proposals to their detriment.
“Everyone’s worst fears are confirmed — Trump is enacting Project 2025 and uniliterally, effectively shutting down the parts of government that people depend on,” said Courage for America spokesperson Malachi White. “It means higher costs for families and literally takes food out of peoples mouths. All Americans should call on their elected representatives to oppose this tyrannical abuse of power.”
Despite denials from all corners of the Trump campaign and his wider network prior to the 2024 election that Project 2025 was not the blueprint for a second Trump presidency, the President and his enablers have fully embraced the document as their governing agenda. Courage for America and the House Accountability War Room warned that the cruel policies of Project 2025 would be implemented. Trump’s memo is further proof that the administration is not only hard at work unleashing its barbaric proposals, but that there was a concerted effort to deceive the American people.
